feeling da love

It's February 14th and it's a storm day. The kids have already ate their weight in chocolate and I've had four cups of coffee. Is this love or a recipe for disaster?

We're listening to CBC's love songs this morning and I think we're feeling it. I know I will be later when I receive my gift from Cody. He's taking the kids to PEI for the weekend and I have like 40 hours to myself. Oh the possibilities are endless.  Books, baths, bed, Banana Republic's 50% off sale ... what will I do?

Best Valentine EVER! I adore your penmanship and decision to refer to me as "aimee". That Mom stuff is so common.

I wonder if this is what all those athletes are eating for breakfast in Sochi?

A big kiss sent from Grandma Sherri and Grandpa George. Your Valentine care package was a big hit and should keep us busy today.

Love to all our peeps. And Calgary, the official one week countdown starts now. See you all soon.

celebrating five years

Yesterday we celebrated Kate's fifth birthday at Moncton's new Cirque Atlantic school with a few of her school friends and our favourite Champion clan. Kate was a little off, tired and shy, but overall I think she had a good time. The highlight was definitely seeing the kids get to tumble, run and swing. The kids were all in agreement that the long silks were their favourite: they got to be spun around in cocoon style and then hang upside down like Starfish. They may not have been all that coordinated but they were all darling.

Take a peek:

 Carter and Lydia muscling up.

Kate and Elliott crawling through rings like bears.

Toes to bar just like his Mama and Papa.

I believe this is the classic bunny hop.

All ears awaiting their next instruction.

Carter getting the two thumbs up for his juggling scarves. He was deemed the natural performer of the group.

I believe this is Carter being swung around in the scarf cocoon.

Elliott's turn.

 Starfish Kate.
Starfish Ell.

I asked Kate this week if she felt different now that she had turned five. "Yes, I do. Very different."
I think she looks different as well.

Kate and Carter examining the dessert?

 All grown up.

Kate and the ladies.
A big hug to Kate's good friend Chloe.

Well my darling girl, you're five. We can hardly believe how much you have taught us during your little life. You're a beautiful sister, friend, colourer and creative. Love you mucho grande.

welcome february

Throughout my whole life February has been my least favourite month. Though short, it's cold and it's just dull. This year it's getting off to a pretty good start. This weekend past we spent at our friends' cottage and had some great fun, food, wine and rest. This Thursday, much to our amazement we are celebrating Kate's fifth birthday followed by her Circus-school themed party on Saturday. On the 21st, the kids and I depart for Calgary for 18 days of family, friends and even skiing!

Other big February news...
We've been talking with the kids' Montessori about putting Elliott in full day classes. He's seemed really keen to stay and spend lunch and recess with his friends. Friday of last week we received the green light to bring him in all day Monday.  When I picked him up he was all smiles, busily working beside his sister. He told me "I had a good day Mama. Not a bad day." Typically he tells me he's having a "bad day" twenty times a day, whenever he doesn't get his way.  I can quite honestly say he's never told me he's had a "good day".  Not sure whether this is an insult to me or the highest compliment to his friends and teachers.  Either way we are quite proud of him and look forward to great things. I on the other hand have been feeling a little lost and was quite anxious to have them back yesterday at pick up.I guess it take a little time to adjust and fill my time.

This video pretty much sums up our weekend. Cheers Best family.

And here is Elliott still feeling pretty proud with lots of energy after school yesterday.

Stay tuned to see our five year old in action this week.
Love,
CAKE
