a little early but what the heck

We got busy this weekend putting up the outdoor Christmas lights before any snow has a chance to fall and dampen our enthusiasm for such an effort. Plus Kate and I head to Calgary this Friday for two weekends and chances are that by the time we return we would be way behind the neighbors.

FYI - I couldn't figure out my camera so the shots aren't great but hopefully you will still be awed at the display.

Oooooh. Aaaaah.

This is Kate after a walk through the neighborhood tonight - pleased as her Pappa's lights are the best. At least so far.

Our son, I mean sunshine playing with her new favorite toy - a rogue piece of cedar from our swags.

She played with this for hours.

So to all our buddies a happy start to the holiday season. And more importantly a happy happy 5th birthday to our nephew Aidan. Aidan is traveling with his Mom, Dad and Sister somewhere in Europe where it's probably already the 23rd and his birthday. Kate and I can't wait to celebrate your birthday with you on Sunday. It's so hard to believe you're already a whole hand's worth of fingers old. We love you very much and hope you're on a warmish beach in Spain or somewhere glorious for your big day.

  1. Grandma and Grandpa also wish Aidan a very happy birthday. We hope you're spending it at the top of the Eiffel Tower. We miss you very much and can't wait until Friday when we'll be reunited with you and your Mom and Dad as well as your cousin Kate and Auntie Aimee.

    We love you all. XXOX

  2. Well, I thought there might be some posts here so I'm just checking at the end of a happy birthday (pardonnez-moi - BONNE FETE) for our boy. He insists on the French version today! We made it to the Paris aquarium and the Eiffel Tower, where there's a new fabulous multicoloured light show after some chocolate mousse for the boy. We spent yesterday in the Louvre looking at Egyptian artifacts and we bought him a set of Egyptian hieroglyph stamps (while Melissa did the same in the next boutique over ... she has since returned hers - great minds, great minds!). He got an Egyptian colouring book and cool animal stencils from his sister today and I think all in, he's feeling well spoiled and taken care of. Thank you so much for the happy birthdays! I'll take them upstairs to him now (as I had to come down to the lobby to check for messages). Love, LOVE you guys and I can't wait for hugs this weekend. xoxoxoxo all of us. (BTW - we didn't make it to Spain ... too much driving, but we've had a WONDERFUL time in France, mostly the south of France - look up Baux-de-Provence, we stayed in a castle and we stayed with a crazy cat lady in Cassis and in the alps in Chamonix and by a UNESCO world heritage site in Nancy!) Melissa is just great too. xooxoxx some more!
